A mechanical engineer, Koduru Ravikanth (30), of Peda Boddepalli village of Narsipatnam mandal, and a Poclain operator, Thakasi Nageswara Rao (50), of Chinakondepudi village in Seethanagaram mandal of East Godavari district, drowned in the canal which is being dug for dewatering near Polavaram Project site on River Godavari on Monday. Ravikanth's body was traced. Deep grief pervades the project site after the tragedy.
