The Delhi Fire Service, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, has issued a public notice under the Delhi Fire Service Act, 2007 and Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010, mandating compliance with fire safety norms for various categories of buildings in Delhi. All owners and occupiers of buildings falling under specified categories such as residential (above 15m or 5 storeys), hotels/guest houses (above 12m or 4 storeys), educational and institutional buildings (above 9m or 3 storeys), assembly buildings, business/mercantile/industrial/storage buildings, hazardous premises, and underground structures are required to install and maintain fire prevention and safety measures as per applicable standards. It is compulsory to obtain a Fire Safety Certificate from the Delhi Fire Service for eligible buildings. Existing buildings without a valid certificate must apply immediately, and expired certificates must be renewed through the online portal with sanctioned/as-built drawings submitted via the concerned authority. Validity of Fire Safety Certificate: Residential buildings (excluding hotels): 5 years Non-residential buildings including hotels: 3 years In case of fire emergency, dial 101 or 112.
