The State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Odisha, has issued a public notice regarding compliance with the Environment Protection (End-of-Life Vehicles) Rules, 2025, notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The rules, effective from 1 April 2025, impose legal obligations on vehicle producers, registered vehicle scrapping facilities, bulk consumers, collection centres, and testing stations for the environmentally sound disposal and recycling of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs). Entities covered under the rules are required to register on the CPCB's centralised online EPR portal and comply with annual and quarterly reporting requirements. Non-compliance may attract environmental compensation and action under the Environment Protection Act, 1986. All concerned organisations operating in Odisha are required to complete registration within three months and adhere to the prescribed environmental and recycling standards.
