Complete Ban on Chinese Manja and Sharp Kite-Flying Thread in Delhi

The Department of Environment, Government of NCT of Delhi, has issued a complete ban on the sale, production, storage, supply, import and use of nylon, plastic or other synthetic kite-flying thread, including the popularly known “Chinese Manja”. Sharp kite threads made sharp using glass, metal or other materials are also prohibited.
Kite flying is permitted only with plain cotton thread free from sharp, metallic, glass, adhesive or thread-strengthening materials. Violations are punishable under Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.
