£32k - £43k annum
Open Sky International is looking for a teacher to join our primary school in Boulogne-Billancourt, just outside Paris
Our school
Open Sky International is a French and English bilingual private school, situated in Boulogne-Billancourt on the outskirts of Paris. The school opened in 2012 for early years and primary pupils, and now welcomes children and students from the maternelle (or early years) classes up to Terminale (or Year 13 in the British system).
Our vision is to provide a bilingual education of excellence to our pupils, and our academic programme is built on the strongest aspects of a range of international curricula and teaching and learning methodology. We have high expectations from the onset for all pupils and we aim for our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. Class sizes across the school are small and our pupils are courteous, hard-working and motivated. We are a fully international school, catering for both French and expatriate families, and we are proud of our multicultural school community. Our staff at all levels are enthusiastic and passionate about education and possess a sound understanding of best practice.
All learners follow a bilingual timetable in French and English. In each primary class, children take lessons for half of the school week in English literacy, mathematics, science and art in English and for the remainder of the school week they learn French, history and geography with their French teachers. Lessons in drama, chess, sport and capoeira also take place for all primary children every week.
The role
We are now looking for a motivated, creative and hard-working primary teacher to deliver our English language curriculum in literacy, mathematics, science and art. We are seeking to recruit a teacher who enjoys working as a member of a team and always aims to work collaboratively. Ideally, you will already have previous teaching experience with students whose first language is not English and possess a good understanding of how to prepare and teach lessons that develop their English language skills in all areas.
What kind of teacher are we looking for?
All successful applicants will have an appropriate qualification, with a PGCE or other similar qualification leading to qualified teacher status. A minimum of five years of experience in teaching the relevant age group is required. The successful candidate will be:
• An excellent practitioner with high expectations for all students and committed to ensuring they reach their full potential.
• An inspiring professional who excites his or her classes and is experienced in teaching English, mathematics and science at primary level and ideally has a good understanding of the UK primary curriculum.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a good understanding of best practice.
• Able to demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and the capacity to teach all subject areas with confidence.
• Able to support and promote the values of the school.
• Eager to discover new cultures and ideas, and open to the challenges of living and working abroad.
There is also an expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to our after-school programme, and there is excellent potential for the development of curriculum enrichment activities.
For teachers who need support with the development of their French language skills, private lessons with a tutor will be provided by the school. As we are a bilingual school, all teachers are required to speak or learn French and English.
Priority will be given to candidates who already have the right to work within the European Union.
What does OSI offer?
The position comes with a competitive salary and support with housing costs and finding accommodation in the Paris area if required. Lunches at school are provided if desired.
