Notice Inviting Applications for Chairperson and Two Members in Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) Applications are invited for the selection of one Chairperson and two Members of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC). Position Details Chairperson and Members of DERC are required to be individuals of ability, integrity, and standing with adequate knowledge and experience in matters relating to engineering, finance, commerce, economics, law, or management. Additional Requirement for Legal/Judicial Member In compliance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court judgment dated 12.04.2018 in Civil Appeal No. 14697 of 2015 (State of Gujarat & Ors. vs. Utility Users’ Welfare Association & Ors.), it is mandatory that at least one member should be from the legal/judicial field. Eligible candidates must meet one of the following conditions: a) Present or former holder of a judicial office, or b) Advocate with at least 10 years of practice and qualified for appointment as a High Court Judge under Article 217(2) of the Constitution of India, or c) Advocate with at least 7 years of practice and qualified for appointment as a District Judge under Article 233(2) of the Constitution of India. Tenure and Service Conditions The Chairperson and Members shall hold office for a term of 5 years or until attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. Re-appointment in the same capacity is not permitted. Salary is fixed at ₹2,25,000 per month, subject to deduction of pension, if applicable. Service conditions are governed under Section 89 of the Electricity Act, 2003 and relevant DERC service rules.
