3 die, eight injured in road accident in Gajuwaka

Threepersons died and eight others injured after an APSRTC bus rammed into a stationary tipper lorry near Gajuwaka police station in the early hours of Sunday.
Preliminary reports indicate that an APSRTC bus traveling from Rajamahendravaram to Parvathipuram struck a stationary tipper lorry from behind. The lorry had been forced to stop on the roadside due to a punctured front tyre.
The deceased were identified as bus assistant driver from Vizianagaram district Rayapalli Rambabu (50), Lanka Eswaramma (57) of Vizianagaram and Radha Madhavi (35) of Rajmahendravaram.
Eight injured passengers were rushed to King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam for treatment. The injured include Siva Surya Nageswara Rao, Kanakam Lalitha, Kanakam Raju, M Nivedhitha, R Tanviha, M Srinivas and Silla Jamayya, while another injured person is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy visited the incident site along with Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao and reviewed the medical condition of the injured victims with doctors. He directed the officials to ensure the best possible medical care for all those, undergoing treatment.
Expressing deep condolences to the bereaved family members, the Minister announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the family of the deceased and assured them of complete support from both the state government and APSRTC. Expressing shock over the accident, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha directed the officials to provide quality treatment to the injured. She enquired about the health condition of the victims undergoing treatment in the hospital and assured that the government will stand by the affected families. District Collector M Abhishikth Kishore instructed KGH officials to ensure better treatment for the victims. He later spoke to the doctors and enquired about the condition of the accident victims.Hospital authorities stated that the eight injured victims admitted to King George Hospital are currently under close medical observation. Six of them are reported to be in stable condition, while two patients may require surgical intervention owing to the nature of their injuries.
A multidisciplinary team comprising specialists from emergency medicine, orthopaedics, neurosurgery and anaesthesiology is providing treatment under the supervision of D Radhakrishnan, Deputy Superintendent of KGH.
Hospital Superintendent I Vani confirmed that all patients admitted to KGH are stable and receiving the highest standard of medical care.Meanwhile, post-mortem examinations on the three deceased victims were completed at around 1:30 pm., following which the bodies were handed over to their respective family members. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
